onsafari.JPGIn her weekend column, Daily News editorial page editor Mariel Garza imagines what the mayor might have written if he had sent back postcards from his recent Africa trip. The visit was under the auspices of the American Academy of Achievement. Patrick O'Connor contributes art to the piece. Excerpts:

Robin Kramer Mayoral Chief of Staff, Los Angeles City Hall

Robin,

I'm finally here! Did you know it's wintertime? I thought Africa was supposed to be hot. Anyhow, make sure sure the council doesn't do anything crazy while I'm gone, like firing Chief Bratton. LOL! I'm irked that they scheduled Jacko's memorial for my vacation. This is how Hahn must have felt on Sept. 11, 2001 when he was out of town and missed all that prime-time exposure.

There are also postcards to Jan Perry, Philip Anschutz and communications deputy Matt Szabo:

Matt,

WTF!!! Donations? On the Web site? Fake tweets? What intern screwed this up? That was supposed to seem like Jan Perry's lame idea!

Heh. Here's some background on that one.
