Mayor Villaraigosa is apparently looking for a director of speechwriting, based on this job posting that just dropped in the mailbox. Salary commensurate with experience, and who knows, you may even get to write his tweets. Requirements after the jump.

Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa has an opening in his office of Communications for the director of speechwriting and is looking for someone with a passion for politics and a strong work ethic.

· Work with Deputy Mayor and Lead Spokesperson in developing long-term message and strategy;
· Draft speeches, statements, talking points and op-eds;
· Review and edit press releases, advisories and website content;
· Salary commensurate with experience.

The Office of Communications operates in a fast pace, high energy environment serving a dynamic mayor who has set a bold agenda around reforming public schools, investing in the green economy and building a first rate transportation system in Los Angeles.

If you are interested in applying for the position, please send your resume and cover letter to mayor.press@lacity.org.
