Derby dolls land their book

downandderby.jpgL.A. media types who also skate — Alex Cohen of KPCC and Jennifer Barbee of Blood & Thunder magazine — have written "Down and Derby: the Insiders Guide to Roller Derby," forthcoming from Soft Skull Press. Cohen, who coached Ellen Page and Drew Barrymore in their banked-track technique for "Whip It," is known as Axles of Evil when she skates with the Derby Dolls. Barbee, a former Derby Doll, also got a trainer credit on the film and is known on the track as Kasey Bomber.
