Bodhi Tree Bookstore to close in a year

bodhitreefront.jpgForty years after it was opened by two reformed aerospace engineers, the Bodhi Tree on Melrose Avenue is likely to close. "Perhaps a wealthy philosopher entrepreneur will come in to buy the store and keep it going," co-owner Phil Thompson tells Gendy Alimurung at the LA Weekly. "A sort of philosopher king. Or queen." Since that's not probable, the staff was informed that the West Hollywood store known for books on spirituality and the smell of incense will shut its doors in a year, the story says. Thompson and co-owner Stan Madson recently decided to sell the property to a local business owner who leases space to nearby retailers.
