Huneven, Vollman finalists for Book Critics Circle

michelle-huneven.jpgThe National Book Critics Circle announced the finalists for its 2009 book awards on Saturday night in New York. Among them are Los Angeles writer Michelle Huneven in fiction for "Blame," and William T. Vollman in nonfiction for "Imperial" (the mammoth study of Imperial County and the borderlands which I happen to be reading now.) The awards themselves will be given March 11 in New York. Full list

One of our own: LA Observed contributor Cari Beauchamp's most recent book, "Joseph P. Kennedy Presents: His Hollywood Years," was named one of the top ten biographies of 2009 by Book List.
