El Cholo coming Downtown *

liberty-grill-fuentes.jpgA Downtown outpost of the venerable L.A. institution El Cholo is coming to the Flower Street spot where Liberty Grill has apparently gone belly up. Blogdowntown says El Cholo doesn't have an opening date yet, but the project looks to include Liberty Hill partners Bernadette Leiweke (wife of Tim) and Camacho's Inc. Their restaurant closed late last year. The South Park address around the corner from Staples Center would give El Cholo locations in Santa Monica, La Habra and Irvine in addition to the original on Western Avenue.

* Update: Oops, forgot the Pasadena El Cholo.
