Chick in a box

chick-hearn-statue-box.jpgA statue honoring the late broadcaster Chick Hearn will be unveiled outside Staples Center before tonight's game 2 of the Lakers' playoff series with Oklahoma City. Chick will be shown seated at a broadcast table, with an empty seat beside him for fans to sit while having their pictures taken. Chick's statue will join those of Wayne Gretzky, Magic Johnson and Oscar De La Hoya — but look, he's got flowers. Hearn's wife, Marge, is expected at the 4:30 p.m. ceremony.
