  • Actor Kevin Costner has invested 15 years and about $24 million in a novel way of sifting oil spill, and his method will get a test by BP and the Coast Guard plan — all while actor Stephen Baldwin is producing a documentary about Costner's device and the Gulf of Mexico oil spill. LAT
  • Lindsay Lohan's lawyers posted $100,000 bail and she won't be arrested when she returns from Cannes for a court date in Beverly Hills — if she returns. TMZ spotted her out partying in France this morning. TMZ
  • President Obama is returning to California for a second fundraiser for Sen. Barbara Boxer, this time on Tuesday in San Francisco. Register
  • "In a stunning and sudden display of accessibility," Meg Whitman sat down for a 10-minute interview with Calbuzz and said the momentum is moving back her way. Calbuzz
  • "48 Hours" plans a segment on the murder for which LAPD officer Stephanie Lazarus is charged on Saturday night at 10 p.m. CBS
  • Michaela Apruzzese, director of movie advertising for the Los Angeles Times Media Group. was named associate publisher, entertainment, of The Hollywood Reporter. THR

  • Singer-actress-comedian Carla Zilbersmith, who died at age 47, said in 2008, "For those of you who don't know, I was diagnosed with Lou Gehrig's disease a couple of weeks ago.... I hate baseball...I'd really much rather have been diagnosed with a basketball disease. Maybe Wilt Chamberlain disease. That's the one where you have sex 20,000 times and then you die." LAT
