Reserve Lofts questions get more interesting

In addition to the earlier mysteries about why Brian Alexik had counterfeit $100 bills, AK-47s, fake IDs and a CIA floor mosaic in unit 701 overlooking the Federal Reserve Bank, the Downtown News has posted an update with more good questions. Why did the fugitive suspect have photos of himself partying with Bono and Janice Dickinson? What were in the duffel bags he escaped with, just as the law was breaking down his door? Is he a focused criminal mastermind or a troubled soul dabbling in drugs and an array of black market schemes? And why did Alexik send certified letters to Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger and an LAPD captain in a recent dispute over a traffic ticket? (I'll add this one: who will snap up the movie rights to this story?)

Ryan Vaillancourt's latest piece adds some good profile angles. At 20, Alexik went to jail for selling heroin and cocaine. He lived like a slob, but had expensive Versace clothes in his closet. "I think he fancies himself as a super sleuth, as a spy,” said LAPD Lt. David Dolan. “Someone he went to high school with him told us [Alexik] wanted to work for the CIA. But I think that that’s what this guy is — he likes to chase the game." Also this: contrary to earlier reports, he did not pay cash for a year's rent on unit 701 and was on the verge of being evicted when he fled. He previously had been evicted from the penthouse at the Cityview Lofts, leaving it "in shambles."
