Bringing the Expo Line to life *

Mark posted this earlier at LA Biz Observed, but everybody I've shown it to loved it so much here it is again. The video simply follows the future route of the Expo Line light rail through the Westside, walking along the old Pacific Electric streetcar Southern Pacific tracks that still exist. It reminds you what's there, excites the imagination a little with what could be there, and by sailing past groves of trees and through hidden tunnels evokes the old silent films when Buster Keaton or the Keystone Kops would ride the Red Cars around a faintly familiar 1920s L.A.

From videomaker Bendix5 on YouTube:

Starting about 6 blocks West of Robertson & Venice through West LA to the corner of Pico & Sawtelle! Yes, no kidding - this is West LA and it was shot on July 10 & 11, 2010....I made this film with a home brew steadycam, a Panasonic Lumix TZ-10 camera, Apple's iMovie and a lot of walking. ;)

* Forgot to add: Development plans along the Expo Line, in the New York Times.
