SeaWorld orca dies

sumar.jpgSumar, one of seven orcas at SeaWorld San Diego, died this afternoon after appearing lethargic yesterday and being given antibiotics. Sumar, a 12-year-old male born at SeaWorld in Orlando, Florida, had been at the San Diego park since 1999. The afternoon killer whale shows were cancelled today but are expected to resume tomorrow. "The exact cause of death will not be known until the results of a necropsy are complete," says the park's blog. "The entire SeaWorld team is mourning his loss."
