Twitter saves LA Observed author from ink-nominy

scoresheet-timmermann.jpgBob Timmermann likes to keep score when he's at a baseball game, and always comes prepared. Monday night at Dodger Stadium — horrors — both of his pens ran dry early. He didn't know that Hiroki Kuroda would pitch a no-hitter into the eighth inning, but maybe a special sense urged him to find a working pen. He put out the call via Twitter — and got a nice post out of it for Native Intelligence. He calls it Dodger Stadium and the kindness of strangers, or just some strange kindness.

Additional sports note: L.A. Times media critic James Rainey says ESPN's move into local websites hasn't gone as well as expected.
