The Entryway closes shop in MacArthur Park

The creators of the somewhat controversial reporting project The Entryway have posted their exit messages. The Entryway, remember, was an experiment in reporting on the immigrant community around Westlake's MacArthur Park by living in the entryway of a family's apartment. It was criticized as "embedded" reporting by an outsider and for being culturally naive. Founder Devin Browne writes that she moved out of the entryway and into a nearby studio in June, and is now living in Phoenix. Through the project she learned, among things, that "there is in fact a great distance between the way many of us see and experience our own nation." Her closing post.
