Mike Tetreault, letters editor was 66

Mike Tetreault was the longtime letters editor at the Daily News. He died last night after a long battle with cancer. Editorial page editor Mariel Garza sent this note to the staff.

I'm saddened to pass along the news that Mike lost his long battle with cancer and passed away about midnight Sunday. He was at home with his family -- wife Cynthia and children Allegra and Gabriel -- and was feisty until the end.

Mikey was 66 and spent nearly half his life fighting one health issue or another. But he was always brave and strong and wickedly funny, and never let his misfortunes define his life.

Cynthia asked me to pass along her thanks for all of the prayers and good wishes sent Mike's way during his illness. She hasn't yet made any arrangements but information about that will be coming.
