Student, officer shot outside LAUSD high schools

The 16-year-old student was shot about 3:30 p.m. near Bell High School, at the Boulevard Burgers stand at Florence and Atlantic avenues. He was taken to the trauma unit at St. Francis Medical Center in Lynwood. Earlier, LAUSD police officer Jeffrey Stenroos was shot in the chest (while wearing a safety vest) after confronting a burglary suspect at El Camino Real High. A large swath of Woodland Hills is cordoned off while police look for the gunman. Stenroos is in stable condition at Northridge Medical Center.
