The rumble on Mulholland Highway

rock-store-zevweb.jpgThe loop of canyon roads off Mulholland Highway where motorcyclists have raced for decades is getting a new feature: rumble strips to deter the bikers from crossing the center line and killing themselves or others. The bikers aren't happy about it, apparently, but the roads east of Las Virgenes Canyon Road between Malibu Canyon and Topanga have been the scene of dozens of collisions and lay-downs. The county's Department of Public Works will cut the rumble strips into parts of the 14.5-mile so-called “Mulholland Raceway” route that follows Stunt, Schueren, Piuma and Cold Canyon roads. Details and backstory at ZevWeb.
