When is a goose not a goose? Take a gander...

Maria the famous Echo Park goose has had quite a first week at the Los Angeles Zoo. To cut to the chase: "she" needs a new name. "We don't have goose. We have a gander," the zoo says through City Council President Eric Garcetti's office. Dominic Ehrler, Maria's daily companion at the park until the goose was recently moved to the zoo, says he'll just call her Mario. "But I’ll call him Maria if he doesn’t respond to Mario,” he said.
