When you're an author, life sometimes imitates art

LA Observed contributor Nancy Rommelmann, whose novel about homeless kids in Hollywood has been in the news lately, was visiting homeless teens in Portland last week when her cell phone rang. It was someone she went to grade school with in Brooklyn thirty years ago. He wanted $2,500 or he would be evicted — could she help? She explains how it went at Native Intelligence.
