Metro's blog The Source has become in 18 months one of the MTA's main ways of exciting the base of L.A. transit enthusiasts and responding to rail critics. Now the agency has started a second media bypass blog, this one in Spanish and apparently aimed at its much-larger customer base of bus riders. El Pasajero will be writen by former La Opinión reporters Jazmin Ortega and Maria Luisa Arredondo. Ortega was a press deputy to Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa for three years. The press release posted at The Source has attracted a few comments critical of using public money on a Spanish-speaking PR blog.
