How the NYT editor turnover came about

Bill Keller started talking to Jill Abramson last summer about taking his place, says Gabriel Sherman in New York Magazine's Daily Intel column. Publisher Arthur Sulzberger Jr. reportedly talked to Dean Baquet and editorial page editor Andy Rosenthal before turning to Abramson as the new executive editor. There's a little detail also on the "intervention" that media reporter David Carr and others staged over Keller's anti-Twitter and anti-Huffington Post columns.
