Ronni Chasen case closed, gun was stolen from a cop

ronnie-chasen.jpgThe Wrap is reporting that the Beverly Hills police have completed the investigation into the Nov. 16 murder of Hollywood publicist Ronni Chasen. She was shot four times (some earlier reports differed) with a revolver stolen from a police officer during a burglary in the San Fernando Valley, the story says. The officer's department and the year of the theft were not reported. Police are convinced the killer was Harold Smith, the ex-convict who killed himself as officers closed in on his apartment in Hollywood on Dec. 1. Chasen's family has been notified of the case's closure and her Mercedes has been released to them, The Wrap says.

The Hollywood Reporter had said in January that the case had been closed then. Amending: What the THR story said then was the case had been solved and would soon be closed, citing the police chief.
