WSJ reporter to be next Villaraigosa press secretary

I mentioned on Monday that Peter Sanders, the Wall Street Journal's aerospace writer in Los Angeles, left the paper for a "public service" job. That turns out to be in Mayor Villaraigosa's press office, which has had a vacancy since last month's departure to Chicago of press secretary Sarah Hamilton. He starts Monday. Sanders also is expected to have some more news this fall: a commission as a Navy Reserve public affairs officer. He's a licensed pilot too, and a former paramedic.

Politically noted: Rep. Brad Sherman and his wife this week welcomed a baby girl.
