Tonight was the sixth Frogtown Artwalk in Elysian Valley, the eclectic neighborhood between the river and the Golden State Freeway where homes are squeezed in tightly among light industrial works, many of them converted in recent years into artist studios and artisans' workshops. There was a bit of extra buzz this year due to the participation of former television journalist Bill Lagattuta, a painter whose studio shares a former marble works just above the bank of the Los Angeles River. Lagattuta shot the image above that's on the artwalk website and was the hook in a PR pitch to LA Observed a couple of days ago. We were going tonight anyway, but we did observe CBS 2's Kent Shocknek schmoozing with Lagattuta. (Shocknek blogged in advance about going.) Elsewhere in the neighborhood I ran into Jenny Burman of Chicken Corner.
