It's spider web season

This is the time of year when I don't walk through yards at night without holding my arms out in front of my face. KPCC's John Rabe confronted this beauty in Cypress Park when he went out to get the paper the other morning. "One more reason newspaper readership is down?," he quips. Primer on L.A.'s spiders.
