Midday media notes: Larry Allison, editor was 77

  • Larry Allison, who held almost every top job in the Long Beach Press-Telegram newsroom including executive editor, and served as mentor to many P-T veterans, died Sunday night. He was 77.
  • NBC will hire to enhance local news coverage at its owned and operated stations, including KNBC here.
  • Dave Morgan, previously the executive editor of Yahoo! North American Audience and head of Yahoo! Sports, was named senior vice president of content and editor-in-chief at USA Today Sports Media Group.
  • Fugitive Hollywood director Roman Polanski misses Nate n' Al's.
  • Neon Tommy goes with the angle that incoming LA Weekly editor Sarah Fenske is the former girlfriend of Village Voice Media chief Mike Lacey.
