Deadline.com website infected (or something) *

attack-page.jpg

Nikki Finke's Hollywood news site has been slapped with Google's dreaded (and often overheated) "attack site" designation. It has happened here before, and the underlying virus or other infection that triggers the alarm can be hard to locate and get rid of. Though it should be easier for a site like hers with a corporate owner and the money to employ tech support. Then the hard part is getting Google and the blacklisting service it uses to recognize that the site is clean. In the meantime, some browsers will refuse to connect with Deadline.com and instead flash this absurd "attack page" warning. Finke's tweet about it says simply: "Deadline Advisory: Technical Difficulty."

* Next day update: Site is clear again.
