Rodney King sells his memoir to HarperOne

rodney-king-patch.jpgComing in time for next April's 20th anniversary of the so-called Rodney King riots in Los Angeles, King has signed with HarperOne to deliver his memoir: "The Riot Within: My Journey from Rebellion to Redemption. Learning How We Can All Get Along." Publishers Lunch says: "An unlikely icon's memoir, in which he tells for the first time the full story of his life -- revealing, never-before-told details of the infamous beating by members of the LAPD and harrowing stories of the widespread violence that followed their infamous acquittal; sharing his own fight to overcome poverty and addiction; and offering his unique perspective on the state of race in America today." No immediate word on a co-writer, if any.

The photo is from King's latest arrest, in Moreno Valley in July.

Quick update: The ghost appears to be Lawrence J. Spagnola.
