Dodgers receive more than ten offers by Monday deadline

magicdodgers.jpgAs of Monday's soft deadline to float a non-binding bid to buy the Dodgers, the players include Magic Johnson, Peter O'Malley, Rick Caruso and Joe Torre, Mark Cuban, Steven Cohen, Stanley Gold and the family of the late Roy Disney, Dennis Gilbert and Jason Reese and Randy Wooster, says Bill Shaikin of the Los Angeles Times. Not all know where the money would come from to buy the team, or will necessarily pass the next screening filter, but for now they are in the game. Shaikin explains the nuances here.

Bidders have already begun talking to each other about combining to make a stronger pitch, the Wall Street Journal reports. "I think we'll get a half-dozen parties that are actually in the bid, plus or minus one," said Marc Ganis, president of the Chicago-based consulting firm Sportscorp, which is not involved.
