'The Artist' wins Critics' Choice award for best picture

The Hollywood awards season is fully upon us (alas), and tonight's pre-Oscars warmup act was the Critics' Choice Awards from the Broadcast Film Critics Association. Best picture went to "The Artist." George Clooney and Viola Davis grabbed the best actor wins, Octavia Spencer and Christopher Plummer the supporting actor wins.

On Sunday the Golden Globes do their thing. Adrienne Crew has some Globes-related events in this week's Angeleno Datebook.
