The LA Times and Californians Aware have filed a lawsuit against the Coliseum Commission, alleging the panel violated the state's open meeting law by secretly deliberating a lease with USC. LAT

In a legal challenge likely to be debated among candidates in the 2013 mayor's race, Hollywood's La Mirada Neighborhood Association filed a lawsuit over the city's passage of the Hollywood Community Plan, which will allow taller buildings in the neighborhood. DN

Skylar Peak, the surfer elected to the Malibu City Council, recently spent five days involuntarily in a psychiatric hospital for evaluation after sheriff's deputies investigated a run-in with security guards at a Point Dume shopping center. Peak denies all charges and explains. LAT

The failure of format changes to "lifetyle news" at two FM alternative rock stations back east is good news for LA stations. DN
