You can run a half-marathon downtown on Saturday night

A new event being called the New Year's Race is a 5K, kid's fun run and half-marathon all in one. The kids take off at 7 p.m. on Saturday night from 11th and Hope in downtown. The longer races leave from 7th and Grand at 9 p.m. The course goes down Broadway, passes Olvera Street and Chinatown, loops around Dodger Stadium and ends back downtown at LA Live.

A race in the streets, downtown, at night, in the middle of winter. It's a concept. There will be a big presser about it on Friday morning at 8 a.m. in the Tiffany Room at the Millennium Biltmore Hotel. Race website
