Daily News loses Kerry Cavanaugh to KCRW

kerry-cavanaugh-dn.jpgAssistant city editor Kerry Cavanaugh is leaving the Daily News to be a producer on "Which Way, LA?" and "To the Point." Here's the note from City Editor Harrison Sheppard that is going around the Woodland Hills newsroom.

All, I'm very sad to let you know that our colleague Kerry Cavanaugh will be leaving the Daily News. Kerry has accepted a position as a producer at KCRW for "To The Point" and "Which Way L.A."

We're not happy to see her go, but certainly glad to have known and worked with her for the last decade. As one of the other city editors recently said to me "she's one of the nicest people I've ever worked with." Kerry started at the Daily News as a reporter in 2002 and did an excellent job covering the environment and city news, and later as an editorial writer and columnist before she became assistant city editor in 2011.

Her last day is next Friday, Feb. 15. We'll be sure to have a nice sendoff to let her leave with good memories of her friends here.
