Eric Garcetti will take the ceremonial oath of office in the 6 p.m. hour in the swelter on the west steps of City Hall. He intends to call himself the "salesman-in-chief" for Los Angeles and in his speech will pledge to bring more jobs to the city. Based on excerpts of the speech from his staff, on his first day as mayor on Monday Garcetti plans to inform all general managers of city departments that they need to reapply for their jobs. He will also use the first 100 days of his administration to meet with Fortune 500 and Silicon Beach executives and with leaders of LA's top universities, non-profits and other major institutions.

The inauguration ceremony starts at 6 p.m. and will be live-streamed at transition.lacity.org. After the official what-not, there will be a party with entertainment in Grand Park.

The run of program goes like this:

Nearly a decade later, Kenia and her mom ran into Garcetti at an event he attended with janitors during his campaign.
