The march of appointments by new Mayor Eric Garcetti continues. Today he filled two of his allotted spots on the board of directors of the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transit Authority with City Council members, Mike Bonin and Paul Krekorian. A third spot went to "Jackie" Dupont-Walker, chair of the USC Master Plan Advisory Committee. MTA issues such as spending on transit priorities loom large for the new mayor.

Garcetti, meanwhile, also decided to stay in the city and forego the resumption of his planned trip to the East Coast this week. He returned early after the protests in sympathy with Trayvon Martin got feisty. He had hoped to head back out to Washington late in the week but has now opted to stay home.
