Obama cancels next week's LA fundraiser and speech

Thumbnail image for obama-leno-grab.jpgWith all that is going on in Washington around Syria, President Obama has decided not to come back to Los Angeles on a political trip next week, the Hollywood Reporter says. The president was to speak at the AFL-CIO national convention here and appear at yet another Hollywood fundraiser. The fundraiser was to be Monday at the Hancock Park home of TV producer Marta Kauffman and her husband, composer Michael Skloff. It will be rescheduled later.

Tina Daunt at THR has an email that went out from a Democratic National Committee staffer.

We regret to inform you that the September 9th reception with President Obama at the home of Marta Kauffman and Michael Skloff has been postponed. We will keep you updated with a new reception date in the near future and would like to encourage you to attend the rescheduled date for what is still sure to be a great event. A refund is also available for those that do not wish to attend a rescheduled date. We would like to thank you again for your support of the DNC. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience. Please don’t hesitate to contact us with any questions. Continuing to stand with you in Hope and Change...

The White House has also informed the pool media that the California trip is off.

From the White House:

The President's trip to California has been cancelled. He will remain in Washington to work on the Syrian resolution before congress.
