Mayor's statement on the death of LAPD officer

Mayor Eric Garcetti's office just released a statement on the death of a Los Angeles Police Department officer in a Beverly Hills crash this morning. The officer's name has not yet been released.

"This tragedy reminds us of the selflessness of our LAPD officers who put their lives on the line everyday to protect us. Amy's and my thoughts and condolences are with the families and all of their LAPD brothers and sisters today.

The Amy referred to is Amy Wakeland, Garcetti's wife.
