Three members of Los Angeles' progressive leadership propose in Sunday Opinion that with Antonio Villaraigosa and Martin Ludlow joining the city council, the time is now to move on the local left's agenda. "Los Angeles is now one of the most liberal cities in America. Its leaders are positioned to show what a livable, progressive city can be," write Jan Breidenbach, Peter Dreier and Kelly Candaele.

Making allusions to statists or socialists or statist socialists would be wrong, wrong, wrong. So, I commented on Villaraigosa here: http://www.laobserved.com/archive/000172.html
From the editorial: "Influential liberals have sat on the City Council in recent years. Jackie Goldberg..."
Great example; at A.N.S.W.E.R.'s last major anti-war protest on 4/13/03, Jackie used her time at the mic to repeat over and over and over "This is about resistance!" Over and over and over. If that's "progress," put this thing in R.
(report on the protest here: http://lonewacko.com/blog/archives/000451.html#000451 , with a couple good pics: http://www.pbase.com/image/15433962 and http://www.pbase.com/image/15433966 )
