Somebody goes to Press Club parties

L.A. blogger Luke Ford likes to do blanket coverage of events given by the Los Angeles Press Club, and he files a report (with a mention of L.A. Observed) from last night's party at the Figueroa Hotel for local author Denise Hamilton. Her first Eve Diamond mystery, The Jasmine Trade, was nominated for an Edgar award and is now out in paperback, and her second, Sugar Skull, has been an L.A. Times bestseller. Hamilton's books all are set in Los Angeles -- Eve is a reporter for the L.A. Times, as Denise was -- with a third coming next year to take place partly in Koreatown. Ford didn't attend last weekend's press club awards dinner, at $150 a pop and up, but there is a report on it from Ken Layne at L.A. Examiner.com with links to photos of and by friends and spouses of the Examiner group.

More blog reports and photos from the Denise Hamilton party by Emmanuelle Richard (one of those spouses), Luke Y. Thompson, Marc Brown, Rand Simberg and Tony Pierce.
