'Charlie's Angels' actually has a message?

The Media Action Network for Asian Americans is upset that John Cleese plays the father of Lucy Liu's character in Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle. Writing in the L.A. Times' Monday Counterpunch, two delegates kvetch: "Would Hollywood ever cast an Asian actor to play the biological father of a Caucasian? We at MANAA are deeply disappointed." They go on to argue the movie isn't all about celebrating the female form in motion: "This movie's underlying message is that Asian men are believable as nefarious villains but not as loving fathers."
