The first rule of obits is...

Not much is as embarrassing as running the obituary of someone who still breathes. But running the wrong picture comes close. The unfortunate culprit this time is KTLA, which apparently did a nice tribute to long-time radio and TV journalist Pete Moraga, who passed away last week. The photo, alas, was of a different Los Angeles radio figure, Lee Marshall. He emailed LARadio.com to make sure people know he's still around.

As you might imagine, I received a number of phone calls at both the studio and the house while my voice-over agent was busy telling the industry that I was still very much above the sod. I called the KTLA newsroom and they were just a little embarrassed. For the record, when I do depart this life, I insist that my eulogy be written by Ken Levine and read by Bobby Ocean.”

Moraga worked most notably for KNX radio and KMEX Channel 34. He was 77.
