'Distinguished journos'

The SPJ chapter in Los Angeles recently changed the name of its Journalist of the Year awards to the Distinguished Journalist awards. This year's winners are Carolyn Cole, the L.A. Times chief overseas photographer; Jim Hattendorf, Assistant News Director at KCBS (Ch. 2) and KCAL (Ch. 9); Mark Lacter, Editor of the Los Angeles Business Journal; and Ed Pyle, News Director at KNX-AM (1070). Susan Seager, an attorney in the Los Angeles office of Davis Wright Tremaine LLP, wins the 2004 Freedom of Information Award. They all get feted at a banquet April 5 at the Pasadena Sheraton, with the keynote speaker to be Phil Bronstein of the San Francisco Chronicle.
