Al Martinez donates papers

Author, Emmy nominee and longtime LAT columnist Al Martinez is giving his literary archive to the Huntington Library. The library will fete him Thursday at 7:30 pm when he will also read from his latest book, Barkley, A Dog’s Journey. Statement from Sara S. Hodson, curator of literary manuscripts:

No matter the subject or tenor of his writing, Al Martinez inspires his readers to think more deeply about the world around them and to see more clearly the qualities that bind people together in common humanity. He is the voice, not just of Angelenos, but of Everyman and Everywoman....

The Huntington is delighted and honored to have his papers come to the library, where they join the archives of fellow Times notables Paul Conrad and Jack Smith.

Disclosure: Martinez and I share publisher Angel City Press in common.
