Douridas charged, but not what you think *

KCRW music host Chris Douridas will NOT be charged with kidnapping or a sex crime in connection with his arrest on suspicion of drugging a 14-year-old girl at Santa Monica's Circle Bar in January. He has been charged, however, with felony possession of cocaine. "Based on a thorough investigation, we felt that the only charge that could be proved beyond a reasonable doubt was possession of cocaine," deputy DA Eva Jabber told the L.A. Times. Arraignment is Friday in Los Angeles Superior Court. Douridas's own 14-year-old daughter Marieke died in April.

* KCRW statement:

Chris Douridas has been through a year filled with tragedy. We know there were some who rushed to an unwarranted judgment. We are hopeful this matter can be resolved in a positive way.
