New York Times

New Hollywood reporter in town

Brooks Barnes is leaving the Wall Street Journal's television beat to cover the business of Hollywood in the New York Times bureau here. He is replacing New York-bound Laura Holson. Romenesko has the memo, while Gawker has the analysis — mostly that arts and entertainment reporter Edward Wyatt "has been dying in Los Angeles" — and a rundown of the various editors and reporters who cover Hollywood for the NYT and the Los Angeles Times. Barnes' arrival on the beat this summer "has the potential to be something of a thorn in the LAT's side in writing about the film industry," says Gawker.
