So much for that 'coveted' media job

More than a dozen journalists — many, but not all, recently staffers at the Los Angeles Times — emailed me that they tried to reply to yesterday's bogus-sounding craigslist ad promising "the most coveted media jobs in the country" at a free newspaper yet to be launched here. In response, they got an error message:

Sorry, but the craigslist user address you recently mailed (gigs-774473716@craigslist.org) does not seem to be valid. It could be you're trying to respond to a very old posting, or that the user has not requested anonymous email forwarding. Please check the address and try again.

Sounds as if somebody doesn't actually want to be bothered. The ad itself disappeared from the gigs queue at craigslist Los Angeles. For those who emailed me, sorry, I know nothing about who was behind the ad.
