Mr. South Bay opinion leaves

Mike Carroll has ben the editorial page editor at the South Bay Daily Breeze for 17 years. He's relocating to Canada. Newsroom note from editor Phillip Sanfield is after the jump.

All,

I'm disappointed to report that Mike Carroll, our Editorial Page editor for the past 17 years, has decided to leave his position.

Mike has been a tremendous asset to the Breeze and I'm grateful to him for his service. After four years on the newsdesk, Mike moved into the Op-Ed position in 1992. He's written countless local editorials on every South Bay city, election and important topic that our reporting staff has followed. Most of the time, he's worked as a one-man band, doing the research, writing and production of his pages. His soft-spoken and thorough approach to his duties will be missed.

Mike and his family have decided to relocate to Canada this summer and enjoy life in
a small, close-knit community north of Montreal. Mike's wife, Eugenie, has family in the area. His last day will be Monday, June 22.

Please join me in wishing Mike the best.

Phillip
