Mayor Villaraigosa has been busy online today, sending out Twitter updates (and email) on his new Ask a Mayor feature, replying to this morning's dissing of LAX and, just forty minutes ago, re-tweeting a message from deputy mayor Bud Ovrom about business taxes. All well and good, except for this: Rick Orlov posts at the Sausage Factory that as of noon, Villaraigosa was on vacation and headed to Iceland. "Just a couple of weeks after returning from two weeks in South Africa..." Orlov notes. "He is scheduled to return on Aug. 4."

Also on Twitter: Jacob Soboroff wondered at 3:30 why the mayor's Ask a Mayor message is videotaped at his official city desk, but posted on his campaign YouTube account next to campaign commercials. At 4:19, Soboroff tweeted an update: "@villaraigosa's YouTube channel now has only this one video: http://bit.ly/lMfQk. All other videos have been removed from view."

Lu not going?: Lu Parker hasn't Twittered about Iceland. Her only tweet of the day: "Rise and shine my friends!! I get to spend time with 2 of my best gal pals today. Haven't seen them in a long time. Excited!!!!!" Does she seem a tad....perkier...than the mayor?
