Several dozen black limousines (and other vehicles) are starting to move away from the Jackson family home on Hayvenhurst Avenue, presumably headed toward Forest Lawn. They have a police escort, but expect traffic along the 101 corridor to get worse before it gets better. At this point they are on Ventura.

Update: The motorcade is getting on the 101 freeway: all eastbound traffic stopped at Hayvenhurst. Traffic also stopped on northbound 405 transition to the 101. On-ramps closed along the route to Forest Lawn. Big traffic snarls out there.

8:13 update: Motorcade pulling into Forest Lawn, heading up to Hall of Liberty. LAFD trucks on hand at the cemetery, along with a city helicopter — adding to speculation that Jackson's body will be taken to Staples Center after the funeral. LAPD chief Bratton had earlier confirmed the body will go to Staples, but some reports have Bratton backtracking on that.

8:18 a.m.: Channel 5 pilot says there are at least 20 copters over Forest Lawn and under Burbank Airport tower control.

As newspapers and television pull back from investigative reporting, foundations and other organizations are beginning to fill the void. One of the most interesting is Accountable California, a project of Local 721 of the Service Employees International Union.
