Right at midnight last night, unannounced booms from fireworks barraged the coast cities on Santa Monica Bay. Turns out it was Khloe Kardashian throwing a 26th birthday party for boyfriend James Harden, the NBA player. Their boat was moored at Marina del Rey and the Coast Guard had issued permits for the offshore fireworks, but let's just say thousands of people were not amused. In the Santa Monica Mirror:
Councilman Mike Bonin, who represents Venice, said this "ridiculous, rude, and loud celebrity birthday bash woke up school children, scared pets, and rousted thousands of people from a good night's sleep."
"The City of Los Angeles did NOT permit this event, and had absolutely nothing to do with it," Bonin wrote on his Facebook page.
