Bestsellers: Edwards, Beatty, Salinger, food

edwards-hunter.jpgJohn Edwards is certainly doing his part to sell books. By confirming that he's the father of Rielle Hunter's baby, and getting separated from his wife, Edwards lent all the credibility needed to the two current books in which he figures prominently. "Game Change," the book on the 2008 campaign by John Heilemann and Mark Halperin, reaches number one in Southern California for the first time this week. "The Politician" by Andrew Young, the staffer who Edwards first got to take responsibility for the baby, debuts at number ten on the hardcover bestseller list. Peter Biskind's bio of Warren Beatty is also on the list.

Boyle ranks #5 in fiction with "Wild Child: And Other Stories." On the nonfiction paper list, the eating theme continues. "Food Rules" reaches number one, followed closely by "Eat, Pray, Love," the new Zagat guide and Julia Child's "My Life in France."
